This is the second Blog for week ending 10th December
(to be completed)
On 6th December I drove to Totness in Devon. I planned to set out early and enjoy a scenic drive through the countryside but it was getting dark by the time I left - and raining. I used motorways instead of country roads and it was a real marathon, and because I was still recovering from a cold, I was not feeling as bright and energetic as usual. It was a great opportunity to practise Mindfulness.
I always love the way that the lights play with the water when we drive in the rain, especially at night, so I took my attention consciously to 'the present moment' using mindfulness and noticed as much as I could about the colours and patterns around me.

I took this photo from a traffic-lights on the slip-road from the M5 into Walsall a few days later, to illustrate this blog. I was so fascinated that I put my diary on my lap and wrote notes (without taking my eyes off the road.) I don't have the diary to hand just now as I'm catching up with blogs on Monday 8th January, but I will record what I remember.
On the motorway and other big roads, there are Cats Eyes, reflective devices set in the road which reflect your headlights. They are usually white but on the motorway they are different colours. Yellow on the far right, white or silver in between lanes, red on the left and green where a road is turning off on the left.
